What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When ZSL receives a donation from a UK taxpayer’s own money, we are entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of Income Tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.
To qualify for Gift Aid, what you pay in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax must at least equal the amount we will claim in the tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
Please contact ZSL if you wish to cancel this declaration, change your name or home address or no longer pay sufficient tax on your Income and/or Capital Gains.
If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and would like to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all of your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.
